### Neverwinter Mornings
News has been spreading recently of a **White Dragon** terrorizing the areas around the **Sword Mountains**. The dragon’s appearance has disrupted trade along the **Triboar Trail** and has thrown many residents of the area into panic. Word is that the sleepy little prospecting town of **Phandalin** sits at the epicenter of the dragon’s domain, and anyone wishing to help the situation in the area would do well to travel there.
The rumors have spread all around the Sword Coast and has been the talk of the town in the city of **Neverwinter**. Many dismissed the tales as baseless rumors, though the slowed rate of supplies from the area became a very real reality for the businesses in the city. Residents feared for friends and family located there, many were too scared to even leave the city walls. However, there were also those who's ears perked up at the mention of this dragon. The Dragon's presence is alluring to many an adventurer, and for many reasons. The glory of defeating such a beast would surely reap massive rewards and notoriety. Heading a call to protect the land was also a motivation for some. For others, their research would benefit greatly from contact with this White Dragon, even if their reasons and methods prove nefarious.
One unlikely group of adventurers formed a travel party, aligned by their desire to investigate this so-called White Dragon.
### Take the Highroad
They set out from Neverwinter in the morning, traveling along the High Road along the Sword Coast, and eventually branching East along the Triboar Trail. Introductions were made during the journey, though some more withholding than others.

*The Highroad*
Leading the group was a human named [[Daelith Nox|Daelith]]. Her appearance was almost unnervingly beautiful, with her dark purple hair and confident demeanor. You could almost detect a tinge of purple to her pale skin as well, but it may just have been a trick of the light. She seemed fairly uninterested in the others, mostly focused on the task ahead.
Towering over the group were two Goliaths. [[Korkulli|Kork]] was the shorter of the two, standing at 7' 6". He has Ashen Blue skin, and his yellowing silvery eyes were surprisingly kind for his imposing presence. He expressed his intentions of helping those in need here, his words were perhaps surprisingly genuine to those hardened by life in this dangerous world.
The other Goliath was [[Morris Greenpetal|Morris]], who's gentle and softspoken nature was contrasted by his 8 foot tall frame. He has white hair, green eyes and greyish blue skin. He spoke in simple phrases and his reasoning for this adventure mostly explained with, "My dad told me to come here".
Walking along with the group was another striking sight, a man not of flesh and blood but steel, gears and some kind of magic animating this creature into being. His identifier is [[B-42069]], and he mentioned that he was seeking someone. He explained that he was trying to find purpose beyond his intended nature to fight in a war long-ago lost and he heard word of the one he seeks could be in the area. If he could find who he's looking for, maybe he could find answers for his purpose as well.
The final member of this group of strangers was [[Hitch]] a Kenku wanderer with a pistol on his hip. The other members noted his metallic arm extending out from his feathery form. He didn't speak much, but when he did it was through the use of some sort of mimicry. It was hard to tell if he was mocking Daelith when copying her voice to speak, but one thing he made clear is that he is here to do jobs for gold, and when it comes to dragons you can be damn sure the gold will flow.
### Phandalin

*Arrival at Phandalin*
They arrive in the frontier town of **Phandalin**, a mining settlement nestled in the rocky foothills of the snow-capped Sword Mountains. Crumbling stone ruins surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past.
Phandalin's residents are quiet, hard-working folk who came from distant cities to eke out a life amid the harsh wilderness. They are farmers, stonecutters, blacksmiths, traders, prospectors, and children. The town has no walls and no garrison, but most of the adults keep weapons within easy reach in case the need for arms should arise.
Visitors are welcome here, particularly if they have coin to spend or news to share. The **Stonehill Inn** at the center of town offers modest lodging and meals. A couple of doors down from the inn, posted outside the **Townmaster's Hall**, is a job board for adventurers.

Kork walks straight up to the job board, eager to help anyone in need. They inspect the 3 quests available, and take them down to have on hand. Daelith wanted to go straight to the source of these requests, and marched right up to the Townmaster's hall doors. The heavy doors on this large hall were locked, and after some knocking they received a response in the form of an older and agitated voice. This was **Harbin Wester**, the townmaster of Phandalin, who seemed to have a heightened paranoia about the dragon's presense and refused to let the players in. After some back and forth and sketchy attempts to open the door, Harbin finally cracked the door so they could speak face to face. Hitch noted that the building didn't have much in the way of other entrances as far as he could see, and it featured a belltower he could see on the back. Harbin provides a little more context for the 3 jobs, giving the group a map of the area and marking the 3 locations of the quests at hand. He also warns them that retrieving **Adabra Gwynn** from the **Umbrage Hill** windmill would not be an easy task as she is quite the homebody. Daelith impatiently tried to get more direct information about the dragon, and Hitch tried to barter for more coin, but Harbin stayed clear on his desire to get these tasks done first, as there are several people who need to be made aware of the danger.
### Umbrage Hillbillies
![[Umbrage Hill.png|600]]
The group heads over to Umbrage Hill. where a lone windmill is situated on a small hill beneath the towering Sword Mountains just beyond. Kork takes a look around, noting a neighboring hill with small piles of rocks strewn about. As they approach the windmill, they notice some damage on the structure, and when they knock they hear a worried woman's voice, "Who's there??? Is it gone??" That's when the group notices a creeping figure stalking them on the other side of the hill beyond the windmill. This lion-like beast has wings and the face of a man. It bares its razor-sharp teeth in a terrifying grin as it approaches, and the group braces for a fight.
