# Calendar The world of Cinder orbits the great gas giant Raiar, which itself is caught between the twin stars Talar and Anir. Talar is the dominant body of the system, its warm, yellow-orange light illuminates the long Cindrian days. Anir, dim and distant, glows throughout the nights. Cinder is tidally locked to Raiar, and so the Valley side of the moon always faces toward its parent planet. Cinder has two eclipse seasons, during which the days are interrupted by the transit of Raiar. The length of one Raiarian transit is 24 hours. | Eclipse Season | Open Sky | Eclipse Season | Open Sky | | -------------- | -------- | -------------- | -------- | | 2/1/2/5 | 5/5 | 2/1/2/5 | 5/5 | A Cindrian year is 400 days, divided into 10 months of 40 days each. Each week is 10 days long. During an eclipse season, a Cindrian week has 2 days of sunlight, 1 day of eclipse, 2 more days of sunlight, followed by 5 days of night. The first day of night is akin to a long sunset, while the final day of night gradually brightens in a warming sunrise. During the season of open skies, each ten day week has one day and one night. Transition days - called Dusk Days and Dawn Days- are generally considered holidays. Many races find the transition periods difficult, and as such the Cindrian work-week is comprised of three calendar days of light and three calendar days of dark separated by a pair of rest days. This is, of course, simply a convention, and many individuals do not have the luxury of Dusk and Dawn Days off.
